ABOUT D.B. MAYS
D.B. Mays is the author of a poetry collection and a forthcoming historical fiction series, The Tree of Anglee.
In addition to the Black Lives Matter movement and the countless Black victims of racial violence, D.B. Mays was inspired to write Black Lives, Lines, & Lyrics because of her own lived experiences with institutional racism, racial and social injustice, and education, economic, and healthcare inequities. Divided into three parts, her poetry collection explores a variety of themes ranging from Blackness, Black humanity, racial injustice, resilience, and hope.
A proud HBCU graduate and mother of two, she lives in the Southeastern United States with her husband.
D.B. Mays offers school and library visits, book club appearances, student workshops, and K-12 and pre-service professional development for leaders and teachers. Contact her for inquiries and scheduling. You may also connect with her on Facebook or Instagram. She loves engaging with readers!
